What does our business do and what areas are served:

The League Against AIDS, Inc. is a non-profit AIDS service corporation. Our company is dedicated to providing a continuum of educational, supportive and case management services that address the needs of our client base.  The League is presently servicing the State of Florida’s south-eastern coast.  During the past twenty years, we have provided the best professional medical and social case management, and the latest in access to medical technology for people with AIDS.  Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Daytona Beach and Tampa are planned as future sites.

Operations During Emergencies

It is the policy of the League Against AIDS, Inc. to be prepared to respond to any emergency or threat thereof which may disrupt operations within our agency headquarters or at a Satellite facility. Emergencies are any unplanned event that can cause deaths or significant injuries to employees, customers or the public; or that can shut-down our organization, disrupt operations, cause physical or environmental damage, or harm the organization’s public image. Emergencies may include: fire, hazmat (hazardous material) incident, flooding, tornado, communications failure, radiological incident, civil disturbance, hurricane/tropical storm, explosion, “sick-building” syndrome, and/or terrorist event.

This all-hazards approach minimizes vulnerabilities by the development of an operational capability that is not dependent upon a facility. The Continuity Of Operations Plan is an effort within and between individual service providers and agencies to ensure the continued performance of minimum essential functions during a wide range of potential emergencies.

Communicate with Service Provider Network to assess provider network status:

The lead case manager will establish telephonic or internet email communication with the members of the service provider network that are providing essential home and community based services to clients, and assess viability status, replace those that cannot provide essential services.

Communicate with client base and begin assessment of disaster impact on the HIV/AIDS community that are in our care and report to proper channels. (AHCA, Positive Health Care)

The case managers will establish telephonic and or internet communications with our clients to ensure their environment is safe, clean and sanitary, assess any special needs for medical supplies or equipment needed for their well being.  Alert them to access special bulletins and information on our voicemail system and on our web site.

Business history:

Our organizational strength lies in the long history with in the Miami-Dade County community, and our well-known status.  People know that La Liga Contra El SIDA is here, and has worked over the last 20 years to provide services when no one else would within the Hispanic Community.  The service provider network that we have established will be maintained and expanded to include other Hispanic, Haitian, and African American HIV/AIDS providers. We intend to diversify and increase in the organization’s financial base of support to ensure sustainability and managerial effectiveness, as well as, develop or increase capabilities, financial planning and strategies to help ensure the organization's effectiveness.
